- Description
- Comments
This footstool is thought to have been embroidered by George Eliot. The intricate embroidery would have demonstrated her refinement and femininity in the nineteenth century. During this time most girls would have been taught needlework skills and it was a part of daily domestic life for most women.
This short film about the footstool was created for the Unscripted project, exploring creative responses to the collection.
